Dental Bridges are used by a dentist when their patient has one or more teeth that are missing that is causing them pain, discomfort, or the ability to talk and chew. With dental bridges, Brookridge dental patients are told that their bridges should last them a long time without the needing to replace your dental bridge, but there may come a time where you break or damage your dental bridge. Usually fake teeth or pontic teeth are anchored to healthy teeth on either side of the gap but sometimes this can be damaged or it can loosen and cause problems. It is better to get the problem corrected sooner rather than later as it can be very uncomfortable.

Why Do Bridges Break?

Most dental bridges are made of strong materials such as porcelain for the teeth and metal for the frame and anchor points for porcelain teeth. Yet even though strong materials are best for dental bridges, Brookridge residents should be aware that even the strongest of materials can fail and break. This can be caused from years of neglect, or simply biting on something hard or chewy in the wrong place. For example, it is a very common problem to have someone break their veneers or bridges on something hard like peanut brittle.

How do they Repair Dental Bridges?

Depending on the cause of the dental bridge failure, dentists can repair a bridge in many different ways. In a scenario where the outer teeth are affected in dental bridges, Brookridge dentists would have to remove the existing bridge and correct it before fixing their patient with another one. Sometimes these outer teeth or abutment teeth must be replaced in order to properly fit a new bridge for a patient. Sometimes when just the porcelain is effect and not the bridge itself, the dentist does not have to mess with the existing dental bridge.
