Having a tooth extracted is a fear that many individuals have because they have heard stories of how bad they hurt. When it comes to tooth extraction, Brookridge dentists might recommend to their patients that is better to have their tooth removed as opposed to keeping it in because it can soon affect your dental health. Some teeth are easy to have removed while others will have to be removed with surgical extraction. Most people will insist on keeping their tooth where it is because they do not have a problem with it, but later it can cause disease or even crowding issues for other teeth.
Surgical Tooth Extraction
According to many dentists, surgical tooth extraction is by far more prominent than that of simple tooth extraction. Brookridge dentists call a tooth extraction surgical because they are required to cut through gum tissue and bones in order to successfully extract a problem tooth. These types of extractions are performed more often because many people in their lifetime will have to have their wisdom teeth removed. Most of the times with these procedures the dentist will first have to take an x-ray of the patient’s mouth to see exactly where their problem teeth are located and what is the best way to extract them.
Simple Tooth Extraction
All teeth that a professional can visibly see and remove with forceps is known as simple extraction. Brookridge patients for example who have an extra tooth growing in their mouth will probably get it pulled with forceps and without the intervention of a surgical procedure. Sometimes though it is possible to have a simple tooth extraction go wrongly; sometimes a visible tooth can break or chip making it impossible to be pulled out simply. In cases like these a doctor would then have to surgically remove the tooth in order to stop future complications.
