Most people think that there is only one reason that anyone would need to have braces. Pine Island residents would only need to have braces if their mouth is overcrowded and creating misaligned teeth. Although this is one of the big problems that can be fixed with braces, this is certainly not the only reason why a dentist or an orthodontist would recommend getting braces for a child or an adult. Of the many problems that can be corrected by braces and orthodontic procedures, some problems occur more often than others in patients. Here are some of the more popular problems braces can help correct.

Spaces In Between Teeth

While many people often get braces for themselves or their kids to help correct overcrowding, another popular problem that can be corrected with braces are spaces between teeth. With Braces, Pine Island residents can have different wire gages and different techniques to help cause teeth to move closer together as opposed to pulling them apart like when a mouth is overcrowded with teeth. Believe it or not but most people’s teeth go through the motion of spreading apart and then going back together regardless if there is an overcrowding issue or a space issue.

Overbites and Under-bites

While most people focus on the alignment of their teeth to determine if the would need braces, it can also be determined by your jaw if you would need braces. Pine Island residents that have overbites, where the top part of their jaw is a little further than the bottom portion of their jaw, or underbites which are the exact opposite of what happens with an overbite. These issues are often fixed with braces that have been fitted with little rubber bands on the corners of the mouth, usually around the canine teeth.
