When a child goes to see their pediatric dentist, they might tell their parents that they will need orthodontic work in order to correct some oral health issues. The most common type of orthodontic work that children get are braces. Dade City parents and kids might be wondering how long does it take for a child to get their braces taken off? Although it would be much simpler to give a rough time frame of when people get their braces off, it is hard to say because everyone is different on an individual basis.
Normal Time Frame is Two Years
Unless your child is a special case, and they only have one or two issues that need to be corrected with braces, Dade city parents will often be told that it will take about two years for their child to finish their braces treatment. Some people who do not have issues that are often corrected with braces such as overbites and spacing issues will be told that their treatment will only take a year to a year and a half. Yet consequently, it is possible that an individual may have their braces on longer than two years depending on their conditions.
Longer Than Two Years
Although it is not likely that your child will need your braces on for longer than two years, it is still quite possible depending on their conditions and at what age they got their braces. Dade City children in the most extreme cases have had their braces on for five years or longer. Apart from the corrections being made, some individuals have their braces on longer because for some reason or another, not all of their teeth are fully grown in. Instead of taking braces off and having to put them on again later, most orthodontists will recommend have the child keep their braces on until the condition is corrected properly.
