Getting braces is something that cannot be done and over within a couple of months. Usually when someone gets braces, Holiday residents are expected to have them for about two years depending on the condition of their teeth and what is needed to be corrected by orthodontics. Normally people want to get their braces on and off as quickly as possible, but for some reason it has become quite a fashion statement to have them on. Individuals who think braces are fashionable should be made aware that there are actually consequences of having braces on for longer than they should be, and they will have to deal with the hassles and complications that they create.

Issues with Having Braces

Braces are a valid option for oral health because they help straighten teeth and correct overbites or under bites. Yet that does mean people experience problems or setback with their braces. Holiday residents who have braces often have a much harder time brushing their teeth and flossing. Generally speaking, someone who brushes their teeth twice a day will still not be as clean as someone who brushes their teeth twice a day without braces. This buildup of plaque and tartar can lead to tooth decay and gum disease, and this issue only gets worse the longer an individual has to have braces on their teeth.

Issues Specific to Having Braces on Longer Than they Should be

Buildup of plaque and tartar should be a good enough reason why an individual would not want to wear their braces longer than they have to. But a more serious problem that can arise if braces are left on longer than they should be is actual nerve damage. When it comes to adults wearing braces, Holiday residents should be aware that this is actually a significant issue. This is not to say that wearing braces is not safe for people, but rather if they are worn way longer than they should, it can cause issues that you would not want to deal with.
