Dental emergencies are often defined as problems that need immediate attention otherwise the situation can worsen fast. The thing about dental emergencies is that they can happen to anyone at any time. This is why it is important for a dental office to have an emergency dentist. Holiday residents might not be familiar with all the situations that would require immediate attention in regard to oral health. Most of these issues are created because of outside forces, and not something the individual did to themselves. If these problems are not corrected immediately, an individual can be in much pain and discomfort, as well as cause additional problems that they may not have foreseen.
A Broken Jaw
There are many dental emergencies that will put someone in a lot of pain, but are not detrimental. But one of the most severe emergencies is when someone with a broken jaw has to go to an emergency dentist. Holiday residents might think any broken bone is bad enough, but a broken jaw affects many aspects of day to day life. Depending on how bad the break is and where it was located, there is a good chance that a broken jaw can also affect dental work. It can cause an individual to not be able to chew properly, or not able to eat specific foods. Additionally, it might be extremely difficult or painful for someone to even talk.
Knocked Out or Cracked Tooth
While a broken jaw is one of the most serious cases dealt with by an emergency dentist, Holiday residents should be aware that this is often a rare case. One of the most common emergencies dealt with by dental professionals would have to be if someone gets their tooth knocked out or cracked. Often times it is the result of an accident, such as someone playing sports or roughhousing. Even if a tooth is not knocked out, a crack in a tooth can cause much pain and discomfort depending on which tooth and how bad the crack is.
