Having new dental caps can be a scary experience for some patients when they do not know what to expect. In all actuality though, the procedure is relatively painless, and people do not have much to worry about a procedure involving dental caps. Lake Lindsey residents should know though that while dental caps are nothing to stress about, taking care of them, so they do not break is something that should be taken seriously. There may be a time when someone has to deal with some common problems that are often associated with someone who did not take their dentists’ advice and accidentally broke their dental cap.
Discomfort and Sensitivity
While a patient may not have broken their dental caps, Lake Lindsey residents should be made aware that a commonly reported issue some people have is when they are experiencing some discomfort and sensitivity. If a tooth was capped while it still has a nerve in it, it is common that people have some issues initially with hot and cold sensitivity. Additionally, people who just got out of a session with their dental professional that installed a new dental cap might have some discomfort in the area for a few days after, since much work has been done on one or more teeth.
Broken or Chipped Crowns
Another common issue that fewer patients experience after getting a new dental cap is when they broke or chipped it, often from eating a food they were not supposed to or taking care of it incorrectly. When it comes to dental caps, Lake Lindsey residents should know that broken and chipped caps have to be handled as soon as possible to prevent further pain and discomfort. If a new crown has a small chip, and it is made out of a composite resin material, a dental professional may be able to correct the issues without their patient having to go through the process of getting a new one altogether.
