Not all dental problems or procedures need to be handled the same day that a patient called to request an appointment with their dental professional. Yet there are some issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible by an emergency dentist. Lecanto residents may be feeling pain or discomfort while they are waiting for a set time to see their dentist, and even a bit of relief can be enough to hold someone over until their appointment time and date. Here are some things that patients can do while waiting for their dental professional to assist them with a dental emergency.
Avoid Eating Hard or Crunchy Foods
Most dental emergencies often make it much harder for a patient to eat or drink as they normally would, and this is something that needs to be monitored while waiting for an emergency dentist. Lecanto residents should try to avoid eating certain types of food, especially ones that are hard and crunchy, as they can make the issue worse and cause more discomfort and pain. Patients should try to eat foods that are soft and go down easy, think of things like some types of soups and snacks like pudding or jell-o. This is not going to be permanent for patients, but once their dental issue is corrected, and they are feeling better they can go back to normal.
Don’t Mess with The Dental Issue to Make it Worse
When someone is experiencing a dental issue, even if it is not too serious or doesn’t cause pain or discomfort, people have a habit of messing with their dental issue. This is not recommended, as it can make the issue much worse later when it does get looked at and corrected by an emergency dentist. Lecanto residents should try their best to not mess with it or touch it, which can be a little challenging when doing normal stuff like eating or brushing their teeth. Even using your tongue to play with the troubled spot is not recommended.
