The majority of people who go to a dentist office regularly will always get a scheduled dental cleaning at least once a year. Most people often treat a dental cleaning as part of their normal routine as opposed to something that is separate. But when it comes to dental cleanings, Holiday residents may share the similar thought of wanting to always have cleaned and whiter teeth without having to go to an appointment to do so. Although a person should never skip a scheduled dental cleaning, there are some things that a person can do in conjunction with their regular cleanings that can make them have cleaner and brighter teeth longer.

Never Forget to Floss

Let’s face it, most of us do not floss as often as we should on a regular basis. But believe it or not, this can go a long way on how much tartar and plaque is removed at professional dental cleanings. Holiday residents might not be aware how quickly tartar and plaque can quickly build up in between teeth, and grow on the adjacent areas. If someone was to keep up with flossing after getting their teeth cleaned, they are more likely to have much cleaner teeth the next time they set up an appointment at their dental office.

Avoid Eating Foods and Beverages that Stain Teeth

When someone schedules a professional dental cleaning, Holiday residents should be made aware that most often whitening treatments are not going to be a part of the process. However, even with no cleaning product or agent, dental cleanings can still give patients that appearance that their teeth are brighter than they once were, simply from removing plaque and tartar build up on the surface of teeth. IN order to have better results for longer, it is best that patients avoid or try to limit the amount of food and beverages that are known to stain teeth. For example, coffee and tea are common culprits, but this also includes foods that have strong colors and dyes, like wine or berries.
