Having some form of dentures later in life is a very common thing that many people will have to deal with at some point in their lives. Dentures help bring back some functionality of broken or decaying teeth, and they can drastically improve someone’s confidence and self-image. When it comes to dentures, Trinity residents need to be aware that they must clean them on a regular basis like real teeth. Many of the same issues that real teeth experience from plaque and tartar are also present in dentures, so it is important that a patient knows how to keep their dentures clean.
Items Used to Clean Dentures
There are many items that can be used to clean dentures so that they are free from food particles and plaque. When it comes to these cleaning items for dentures, Trinity residents should know that all that is really needed is:
- Toothbrush
- Denture Case
- Cleaning Tablets
There are many products in stores that have dental cleaners in the form of tablets, and the only thing that needs to be done is drop them in water with your dentures. Similar to how Alka-Seltzer can foam and bubble, this is how much of the dental cleaning tablets work as well.
Create a Cleaning Routine
A Dental professional will always say that the best way to keep dentures clean is to clean them after every meal. While this is probably the best way to ensure clean dentures, trinity residents might have a hard time staying committed to this. The important thing is to be sure to clean them on a regular basis. Instead of cleaning them after every meal, consider only doing it once a night before bed. A person will be able to tell if their dentures need a deeper cleaning, because they will often feel different, and may have a slight smell to them that isn’t really noticed until they are removed from your mouth.
