It seems to many individuals that getting their wisdom teeth extracted is something that is inevitable. Most people who need to have their wisdom teeth removed will start to experience complications in their later teen years, maybe into their twenties. To most of us, it can be quite shocking to know that not everyone will need to go through a wisdom tooth extraction. High Point residents should know that your dental professional will be able to discuss with you if wisdom tooth extraction will be necessary or not, as there are a few situations where this is not needed for a patient.
Some People Never Grow Wisdom Teeth
Because having wisdom teeth is such a common problem among young adults, it can be surprising to know that some individuals will never grow wisdom teeth, therefore, they will never need to go to the dentist for wisdom tooth extraction. High Point residents should be made aware that the reason for this is a genetic mutation, and only a small percentage of people today never have wisdom teeth. It is also important to note that some people may only have two wisdom teeth instead of four, and for the same reason that it is a genetic mutation that some people have. Human mouths have gotten smaller than time progresses, so wisdom teeth no longer fit in our mouths as they once did.
Not All Mouths are Small for Wisdom Teeth
Even though we get our wisdom teeth because they cause spacing issues in our mouths, there are some people who will never need to have a wisdom tooth extraction. High Point residents should know that there are some people who have enough spacing in their mouth that when their wisdom teeth come in they do not need to be removed, because they are not causing issues. This however is almost just as uncommon as someone who will never have a set of wisdom teeth grow in their mouth due to a genetic mutation.
