Let’s face it, regardless if it is an appointment for the doctor or a dental professional, not too many people like going to the appointments that we scheduled months ago. They seem to always be around a time when we just want to relax or do something for the weekend, and some people might be thinking about rescheduling for another date in the future. This is something that is common with dental cleanings. Lake Lindsey residents might be thinking about rescheduling their next dental appointment to another day, but wonder if it is okay for a patient to skip their dental cleaning? The short answer is no but cleanings and brushing teeth alone are not the same as getting a professional cleaning done regularly.
Brushing Teeth is not the Same as a Dental Cleaning
Most people assume that it is okay for them to skip out on their next dental cleaning appointment because they do a good job of brushing their teeth twice a day. This is a bad way to think about professional dental cleanings. Lake Lindsey residents should be made aware that although they may brush and floss their teeth regularly, it is not as good as if someone went to a dental office and had their teeth cleaned. Dental cleanings are able to remove plaque and tartar that brushing alone cannot get rid of, and although it is not a problem to go six months or so without a cleaning, it is not something that should be skipped all the time.
What about Using Whitening Strips Instead?
Whitening strips are a dental product that many people use regularly. Everyone wants to have a whiter and brighter smile, but some people mistake these whitening strips as a replacement for regular dental cleanings. Lake Lindsey residents should be made aware that although their teeth may seem whiter after getting a cleaning done, they are not from the same result as whitening strips. Whitening strips are not a good alternative to someone who doesn’t want to go to the dentist office as often as they should.
